Lisa Robideau and Joan Mulvehill
Trial and Error Show Crafters’ “Metal”
Lisa and Joan are the co-owners of Blue Turtle Designs. Their business began when Joan had been recently retired from the nuclear power industry and was looking for a new challenge. Lisa had been working in Quality Control in the paper manufacturing field and was interested in owning her own small business. Between the two of them they reasoned they probably had the match of skills and talent to start their own business.
They became interested in learning to work with metal and through a process of trial and many errors, self taught themselves how to cut, bend and weld their new designs.
They signed up for as many small, local craft shows as they could find and discovered people really liked their somewhat quirky characters made from whatever junk pieces they could find. And they enjoyed making them! They have participated in over 1,000 Art, Craft and Garden shows in the last 25 years with their recycled metal designs. They are proud to add Christmas in the Woods 2024 to that list.
Stop by booth #110 to see if their popular reindeer made from fire extinguishers, or the snowmen that started out as bicycle rims, or the lighted Christmas trees, or shovel owls, might have a special place in your Christmas display this year.
